There are two freebies below.
Everything about God is holy, including His wisdom, power, judgments, and love. If His love was not holy, He would not have sent His only Son to suffer for the world's sins and to meet the reasonable demands of His nature and holy law.
God says to His people eight times in the Bible, "Be holy, for I am holy," and He means it. God's holiness means that He is completely "separate" from everything sinful. He is distinct from what is common; he is distinct from what is defiling.
Happiness, not holiness, is the primary goal of the majority of people today. They want Jesus to solve their issues and bear their burdens, but not to dominate their lives or change their character. God desires happiness for His children, but true happiness begins with holiness. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness because they shall be satisfied" (Matt. 5:6).
But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15–16
Many people who can speak eloquently about God have no concept of how to live holy when they face the severe problems of living in a damaged world. They've never looked into it. We cite Scripture, memorize cute aphorisms, and study books in an attempt to comprehend it. We have sought to understand him with our heads and have missed out on the thrill of learning how God manifests himself and reveals his purpose in the world daily.
Pursuing holiness does not imply living a bleak existence. It is choosing to enjoy what is true, honorable, right, lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8) rather than denying myself sinful pleasures.
Roots Come Before Fruit
The curriculum for holiness is allowing God's Spirit to work in you.
- Slow down your pace daily to spend solitude time with God. Prayer and Bible study daily.
- Dedicate time to introspection. Check the health of your heart, soul, mind, and strength by comparing it with the actions of Christ and removing anything contaminating our lives.
- Keep the Sabbath. It was created for us to be separate (holy).
- Ask for and accept his love and forgiveness. We all fall short.
- Spend time with seekers of God.
When we strive to do things for God to be happy with us, we try to perform for God to earn his love. The amazing reality is that we already have his love.
God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Romans 5 explains that our faith in Jesus, God's holiness is transferred to us, and he now proclaims us spotless in his eyes. This implies that we can now have true and lasting peace with God, thanks to what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us.
Romans 5 explains there's more! Even in difficult times, we have joyous assurance, knowing that our trials will create in us patient endurance. Patience will develop our character, and proven character will lead us back to hope. And this hope is not delusory because we can now experience God's infinite love pouring into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives within us! For when the time came, the Anointed One came and died to show his love for sinners who were utterly helpless, weak, and powerless to save themselves. Christ demonstrated God's fervent love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!
